AC9JU memorial service

Bob Bernhardt-AC9JU-South Central as some knew him, passed away in December 2021.

There will be a memorial service for him on August 27th at the Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin, WI at 11:00am.

From Eau Claire, WI

South on Hwy 37, turn right on Hwy 85 and follow until you hit Durand, next you will follow Hwy 25 south until you meet up with Hwy 35, just before you get to Nelson. Turn right on Hwy 35 and go 4.8 miles to Mill Pond Road 1.1 miles to Hwy N,which should take you to the Cemetery.

Disclaimer ——(I’m not good with posting directions, I just find it easier to Google Oakwood Cemetery, Pepin Wi, to get the directions. It’s a lot of country driving.) If you get lost, it’s not on me!!! 🙂

Lets show support for his family…he was, after all, part of the CVARC club and will miss his insight and knowledge.

PICNIC/FOXHUNT RESCHEDULED

The NEW date for the “First Annual Picnic/Foxhunt” of the Chippewa Valley Amateur Radio Club is hosting their ‘First Annual’ Foxhunt and Picnic on Saturday, July 30th. The site is Erickson Park in Chippewa Falls. It will begin at 1:00PM and goes until 3:00PM (the site is reserved until 8:00PM) In case of rain the time is subject to change! The large shelter is reserved for CVARC.

Burgers, brats, and buns will be provided. Please bring a dish to pass – chips, beans, potato salad, etc. Bring your own beverage!

DO NOT PARK IN THE AREA DESIGNATED FOR THE BOAT LANDING! There is extra parking near the entrance to the Park.

Erickson Park is a hidden gem in Chippewa Falls. It sits next the Glen Lock Dam and is connected to a walking trail to Irvine Park.  For those of you familiar with Chippewa Falls you turn as if you were going to Glen Lock tavern and take the road called Ashley Lane.  It is one tenth of a mile below the tavern. There is a boat landing, and fishing from the pier, if anyone is interested.

If anyone is interested, we will have a fox hunt or two. The Club has antennas and a handheld radio. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A CLUB MEMBER TO ATTEND!  We just want to have a group of hams that want to socialize.  Please pass along to others who might be interested.

Directions for GPS: 1324 Glen Lock Rd, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729

Camp Phillips July 1, 2022

Chip, W9OQI, and Phil, W9PRS, had a good response at Camp Phillips today with the Boy Scouts.  It was really quiet until almost 11:00AM and the last hour was packed.  On FT8 we logged some calls.  They left the one call to Finland up on the screen to show the Scouts what was possible.

Another trip to Camp Phillips is planned for Friday, July 22, 2022. If interested in going along contact Chip at chip@w9cva.org.
